Climate Action Durham was created out of a conference convened on 17/10/2019 at Elvet Methodist Church In Durham entitled "How Green is your City"? There were various speakers including the then County Council member appointed as climate change champion John Clare.

 

A small group of people continued to meet following this conference and the name Climate Action Durham was adopted to formalise the Group.

Climate Action Durham is not affiliated to a political party or religious group and it is independent in its' decision making, policies and actions.

Climate Action Durham is registered with Friends of the Earth since February 2020 and is a part of Climate Action Network in the North East. We are in regular contact with the North East co-ordinator, based in Leeds and have access to their resources.
